Dozens protest at State Rep Kay Hather's office

Posted by Matt Yonke on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Protesters outside State Rep Hatcher's officeMonday, March 30, more than 30 people came out to protest HB2354 in front of the district office of State Representative Kay Hatcher.

Leading the protest were local pro-lifers Dan Wurtz and Julie Van Domelen of Holy Cross Church in Batavia. Dan and Julie had arranged a meeting with Rep. Hatcher to deliver the hundreds of petition signatures against HB2354 from her district. They used that time to bring a peaceful, prayerful protest against HB2354 and Rep. Hatcher's stand in support of it. Dan had this to say about the meeting:

Mrs. Hatcher was honest and to the point. While expressing reservations on HB-2354 she did say, "If you were to categorize me it would be Pro-Choice." I sensed genuine conflict on the bill, but didn't think that it alone would influence her vote.

She reiterated a few times a general theme that she had to be the representative for ALL the district and not all families and/or situations are ideal. Where conscience of health professionals was concerned, we were told that significant changes were being made to that part of the bill.

But, as we've seen, the problem is the whole bill, not the parts that are being amended. Dan continues:

We are trying to keep constant dialogue with Mrs. Hatcher to help her understand the moral implications of passing a bill even resembling HB-2354 is not the leadership this state or district needs.

Bottom line is this, We all have to keep pressure on our representatives by calling them and educating others about the bill and their representatives phone number. In these dark days we must show that we are servants of the most high, by protecting life.

Thanks so much for standing up for Life, Dan, and thanks for the report.

"she had to be representative for ALL the district"

If in a community, there is one individual who sincerely believes in "the law of the jungle" and wants to live by it…..does the lawmaker feel obliged to thus allow killing of anyone who one deems it right to do so?

Seems to me "representative for ALL the district" must mean "representative of WHAT'S RIGHT for ALL the district"!

Is "Illinois FOCA" a "law of the jungle…..in particular", (referring to only pregnant women), as contrasted with a "law of the jungle…..in general", (referring to all human beings)?

    Seen on the web:

On a Saturday afternoon, in Washington, DC, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's aide visited the Cardinal of the Catholic cathedral.

He told the Cardinal that Nancy Pelosi would be attending the next day's sermon, and he asked if the Cardinal would kindly point out Pelosi to the congregation and say a few words that would include calling Pelosi a saint.

The Cardinal replied, "No. I don't really like the woman, and there are issues of conflict with the Catholic Church over some of Pelosi's views." Pelosi's aide then said, "Look. I'll write a check here and now for a donation of $100,000 to your church if you'll just tell the congregation you see Pelosi as a saint."

The Cardinal thought about it and said, "Well, the church can use the money, so I'll work your request into tomorrow's sermon." As Pelosi's aide promised, House Speaker Pelosi appeared for the Sunday sermon and seated herself prominently at the edge of the main aisle.

During the sermon, as promised, the Cardinal pointed out that House Speaker Pelosi was present. Then the Cardinal went on to explain to the congregation "While Speaker Pelosi's presence is probably an honor to some, she is not my favorite person. Some of her views are contrary to those of the church, and she tends to flip-flop on many other views. Nancy Pelosi is a petty, self-absorbed hypocrite, a thumb sucker, and a nit-wit. Nancy Pelosi is also a serial liar, a cheat, and a thief. She is the worst example of a Catholic I have ever personally witnessed. She married for money and is using it to lie to the American people. She also has a reputation for shirking her Representative obligations both in Washington, and in California. She simply is not to be trusted."

The Cardinal completed his view of Pelosi with: "But, when compaired to Senators Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, John Kerry, and Barrack Obama, House Speaker Pelois is a saint."

Catholics are a bunch of name calling hypocrits. They think they are better then everyone who doesn't agree with them. How can a man of GOD refer to anyone the way the Cardinal referred to Pelois.I feel very sad when I think of all the people who are so easily influenced by someone who claims to be a person of GOD then acts like a child with "I don't like" this person and proceeds to call that person among other people childish names. You all need to grow up!! I guess I will never understand why so many people are so gullible to believe anything the catholic church has to say.

    Dear "personal oppinion",

You ask "why so many people are so gullible"? Well, it looks like you bought the email story hook, line and sinker. Do you actually believe that Cardinal George would say this? Or did your "hope" that a "Catholic" would do something like this blind your common sense?

Just for the others here. This is an email story that someone made up for fun. Can you say "joke"?

    Thanks and God Bless,

    Roger,

In Personal Opinion's defense, who would think that priests would molest children? Furthermore, who, with any common sense, would thinkt he church would cover it up? I think there are a number of things that "some" catholics have done that defy basic common sense.

Who would think that parents would kill their children and call it "good" or "choice"?

    Roger,
As I'm sure you are very much aware, killing children is illegal. Parents who do so usually go to jail.

I heard the comment that one side accuses the other of "micro manageing"…..oh ya? what if the error is mistating "micromanageing" for "NANOmanageing"!

"micro" metric for a million (or a millionth….1/1,000,000)

"nano" metric for a billion (or a billionth…..1/1,000,000,000)!!!
