Pro-lifer arrested for quoting scripture to abortuary staff

Posted by Matt Yonke on Monday, March 16th, 2009

Randy Means just after his release from the Aurora City jail with Eric Scheidler, Dolores and Nancy WeberStalwart pro-lifer Randy Means was arrested at Planned Parenthood Aurora Saturday Morning. Randy was standing on a public sidewalk, talking to the Planned Parenthood employees as they entered the building.

Randy stayed on public property, did nothing intimidating and made no threats to the staff. He merely reminded the employees that they would have to account before God for their involvement in the death of His precious unborn children, and that no one knows when that day will be. As Our Lord said, no one knows the day or the hour of judgment, it could this very day.

Nevertheless, Planned Parenthood employees called Aurora Police and claimed to have been "disturbed" by Randy and the sign depicting an aborted baby, which Randy has been faithfully holding outside the clinic for nearly two years. For this and nothing else, Randy was hauled off to jail on a charge of disorderly conduct.

In fact, witnesses there that morning reported that while the Planned Parenthood employees were arriving, before Randy had said one word to them, one of them stopped their car and said to a pro-lifer words to the effect of "Today you get arrested," insinuating that their plan was to have a pro-lifer arrested that day, whether they did anything against the law or not.

Randy was bailed out very shortly after his arrest by dedicated pro-lifer Nancy Weber. The Pro-Life Action League's Eric Scheidler and Matt Yonke were there as well to greet Randy upon his release and give him a ride back to Planned Parenthood, where he wanted to be.

This case will be fought in court and Randy will be proved innocent of any wrongdoing. In fact, I'm confident that it will turn out to be the case that Randy's First Amendment rights to free speech and religion were roundly trampled on.

Stay tuned to the blog for more updates as more facts come in. For now, here are some pictures and video taken by Delores Weber, one of our must faithful young supporters:

Prolifers, they have been waiting and trying for over a year to try to put someone in jail. They have been plotting to lie to do this to try to affect the upcoming lawsuits against PP. They have declared war on the pro-life movement. Beware of the current administration of this city, the state and federal politicians who are backing PP. Continue to fight spiritual warfare. Fast and pray because the satanic, pro-death forces are so angry that there has been no violence or threats as they have continued to mutilate, dismember and commit horrible acts of violence on precious, innocent unborn babies. Remember that the city sent the city attorney and the former police chief to try to intimidate the prolife protesters when they opened their abortuary. God help this city.

I wonder what's more 'disturbing', the sign of an aborted baby or Aborting an actual baby??

These PP employees have a very warped sense of reality..

God bless and keep you, Randy!!

Randy - wanted to say God Bless and we'll see you Saturday! Let's make this Saturday's turnout for the Rally huge to show we can't be intimidated. You are in our prayers and know you have our support…

"..let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin……" Hebrews 12:1a-4a

    Wanda's right–let's make this month's protest HUGE!!

While I know I shouldn't be surprised by anything PP does, I am still disappointed that they would have Randy arrested. How much more awful that the police buy the story that Randy was actually doing anything wrong!!! And how bizarre/bogus that after two years the PP employees noticed his giant sign and became "intimidated"!!!

I thought Randy was arrested for telling 2 PP workers that they were going to die that day. I understood he was arrested because threats are not protected under the first amendment. I agree, it makes no sense for PP workers to call the cops about a sign that has been there for 2 years.

I have worked beside Randy many hours outside abortion clinics and he has never physically threatened a patient or a clinic worker. He may warn them of the coming judgment of God. For over 200 years preachers, both indoors and outdoors, have been warning people of God's judgment day. The coming judgment of God should scare anyone who is doing evil.

Planned Parenthood hates Randy and his sign. Why would they hesitate to lie about him? Think about it.
If their consciences allow them to kill tiny human beings, would not their consciences also allow them to lie to remove their opponents?

Why did P.P. clinic people stop and engage in conversation with Randy? Were they trying to start trouble? Why didn't they just quickly drive by and park in the clinic's big lot.

Citizens of Aurora know Randy has been protesting the abortion industry for many years in Aurora. He has become an living icon of the American right to protest evil. It is his first amendment right, no matter how powerful or well connected or politically correct his "planned parenthood" opponents.

This arrest scares me because it means a woman can make a false accusation and have an innocent man arrested, handcuffed, and taken off to jail. Now we will see if the judge is wise enough to do justice in this matter.

Typical Aurora Police. What do expect from a department thats pro abortion, hires Homosexuals and Lesbians, and beats up on and aressts people for no reason.

  8. Erin says:

Well, first amendment rights seem to be on the wane in Aurora. This is not quite the same thing, but I wanted to put it out there anyway. Last week a campaign worker came to my door stumping for Weisner. When I told him that I would not be supporting Weisner, he put a sign in my yard anyway, and in fact put the sign smack in front of the Spanish-language anti-Planned Parenthood sign stapled to my front fence, completely obscuring the pro-life message. I was livid, but would have let it go if my angry email to the Weisner campaign had produced any sort of apology for the actions of this individual. Since it didn't…hey, I've got pictures of the Weisner sign making a very pro-PP statement by blocking the FAPP sign. Anybody want them?

Thanks for the many years you have been at this (since '91). The one word I would use to describe you to others is persevering. I've had the privelege and blessing to be there time after time to witness turn-aways with you. You, more than anyone, in this area have been faithful and persistent in your witness!

God Bless you and thank you so much!

I find it interesting in the video one of the police officers says (around time marker 1:09) "you have your opinions, they have theirs". Is that why Randy was arrested? For expressing his opinions? Very interesting.

  13. Student says:

    Roger,
I think it rather disingenuous of you to suggest that he may have been arrested for his "opinion." That is not at all what the officer was saying. One isn't arrested for an opinion. One is arrested if one commits an illegal action. I may think it's ok to burn down buildings, however, as long as I don't act on it, I'm not going to be arrested.

  14. Roger says:

    Student,

"disingenuous"? I think not. I'm merely pointing out something I heard on the tape. Do you not find this quote of the police officer interesting in the situation?

"I may think it's ok to burn down buildings, however, as long as I don't act on it, I'm not going to be arrested."

In Aurora, you would be arrested for speaking such a thought.

    God Bless,
    Roger

Homosexuals AND lesbians?? Jeez! Well, they've been going downhill since they started hiring the coloreds.

Seriously, if you wonder why moderate pro-lifers are hesitant to speak out and become more active, it is because they do not want to be associated with ignorant statements like this one.

I too wonder what "hires Homosexuals and Lesbians" has to do with this issue. While I am not for their lifestyle, I'm also not in favor of discriminating against anyone who lives that lifestyle. (On a side-note, I'm also not in favor of special privileges or "affirmative action" programs for them either.)

Just suffice it to say that not all pro-lifers like the comment above. I welcome any gay or lesbian person to join the cause for the rights of the unborn to live.

It rights of unborn children to live is bigger than the personalities of those involved in the cause, so we shouldn't be side-tracked or discouraged because of a few individuals who are not as elegant or have different attitudes towards other issues.

Also, let's not forget there are many police officers who are very kind as well as pro-life. Those that have stopped by me while I've held my graphic sign at the driveway entrances have been very polite. They've said they were just checking on complaints, and after short, friendly discussions, they go on their way.

I think I must of hit a nerve. Remember abotion comes from a contraceptive mentality. Homosexualty and Lesbianism does not produce new life. It is also a sin. Read Romans 1. I had a good prolife friend who was arrested last summer by the APD in front of his children on a false charge. His rights were violated, no maranda etc., he never resisted and was beat up and sexualy assulted by one of the officers. I suppose thats ok? Maybe those who criticize my comments will be their next victims and then understand.

    Matt Andrew,

Homosexuality has nothing to do with the discussion of Randy's arrest.

Let's keep the subject of the comments on the subject of the post, namely Randy's arrest.

Btw, Randy didn't tell anyone they were going to die, but I'm curious where you heard that, Amy?

My main point is what the cops in general are like in this town given Randy's situation. I watched the video and I and others think it is absolutely disgusting what they did to Randy.
My heart and my prayers go out to Randy. May he be fully exonerated.

FOOD for thought - Ezk. 3: 18,19 When I say to a wicked man "You will surely die" and you do not warn him, or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die from his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. But if you do warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his evil ways, he will die for his sin, but you will be saved yourself. -

    Randy Means,

You are a Good Servant of God. You are an inspiration and I aspire to your level of commitment. Certainly you listen to the Voice of the Spirit. You speak the Truth about the Evil of Abortion and the Truth that being arrested for Witnessing to the Truth is a privilege. I will be praying for your complete vindication not only in the Earthly courts but from our Lord Jesus (but that is certain since you do his will).

One of the most wonderful things about God is his ability to turn any evil and any act meant for evil and turn it into Good. You can be certain that your arrest will be turned to Good in Aurora and elsewhere. No true sacrifice is wasted. Acts are the truest form of Praise for the Lord.

I will be praying for you as well when I got to the Clinic (that evil place) on Thursday to pray for end to this abomination.

May the Lord abundantly Bless you and your family,

    Ian Wylie

Got a call late last night from Tom Brejecha asking me to show for the 9am call rather than wait for the 1pm scheduled trial. Tom spoke between the judge and the prosecutor explaining he could not adequately mount a defense without seeing/hearing the planned parenthood recordings. (on 24 hours) He explained that the police department presumedly viewed such prior to arrest, and he had not yet been privy. In two weeks there will be a status hearing and my understanding is that at that time Tom B. will be tol;d about his request for those recordings.

    Randy,

Just wanted you to know you are in my prayers. This is totally political. You have been at Planned Parenthood trying to protect babies and their Mothers since day one. You are one of Planned Parenthoods biggest targets because of it. I think you and everyone else needs to understand that this is what the arrest was about. They are afraid of you alright, but it's because you are standing up day after day for justice, not because anyone really belives you mean them phsyical
harm. God Bless You and everyone else in th fight for the God given Right to Life.
