Fox Valley Families Against Planned Parenthood

Protest goes on through winds and snow

Posted by Matt Yonke on Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Eric Scheidler inspires the picketersSaturday, February 21 was a blustery morning. Winds whipped across the vacant lot adjacent to Planned Parenthood Aurora as pro-lifers gathered at the corner of New York Street and Oakhurst Drive to protest the presence of the Abortion Fortress in their community. This was the nineteenth month in a row pro-lifers held a rally at the facility.

Stalwart activists Joe Williams and Wanda Geist came out early to shovel the sidewalk and sidewalk counselor Joe Basar got there shortly thereafter with a snowblower to finish the job and sprinkle some salt. This was a vast improvement over January's protest where protesters trudged through many inches of accumulated snow.

There was certainly less snow to trudge through, but the icy wind persisted throughout the entire protest, making a 30 degree day feel much colder.

Over 60 attended the protest, carrying signs reading "Moms for Life", "Planned Parenthood LIES to You" and "Planned Parenthood BAD for Aurora" among others.

Protesters march outside of Planned Parenthood AuroraSeveral people attended for the very first time, having just heard about the protest from Eric Scheidler's email alerts. Others have been coming out since community outrage erupted in the summer of 2007 when Fox Valley residents first heard about Planned Parenthood's plans to enter Aurora.

Midway through the protest, Eric Scheidler got on the bullhorn to encourage the crowd and lead them in chants of "Life Yes Abortion No" and other inspirational cheers.

At the end of the protest, Eric and Pro-Life Action League staff gave all the pro-lifers a copy of the League's new handbook "Sharing the Pro-Life Message". Sharing the Pro-Life Message is a pocket sized guide to the abortion issue, packed with all the facts, figures and reasoned arguments a pro-lifer needs to discuss the topic with courage and compassion.

You can get a free copy of "Sharing the Pro-Life Message" at FreeProlifeHandbook.com.

Planned Parenthood can count on seeing pro-life faces outside their clinic the third Saturday of every month till the day they close their doors.

***FOCA NOW BEING PASSED THROUGH YOUR BACK DOOR (ACT BY MARCH 4th)***

    PLEASE PASS THIS ON.

It appears that they may have gotten the message at the national level about the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) being very unwelcome in America. They know how to get around that, though. They are just going to introduce it in pieces instead and sneak it into appropriation bills. We all know by now that they pass legislation without even reading it or knowing what is in it. The pork laden “stimulus” bill already has billions of dollars going to agencies such as Planned Parenthood that will permanently enshrine abortion as a constitutional right in our country.

THE FOLLOWING IS VERY TIME SENSITITVE INFORMATION. PLEASE READ AND ACT ON IT NOW.

The death peddlers have now focused on the State level to introduce House Bill 2354 in our State Legislature, also known as the Reproductive Justice and Access Act (RJAA), which will accomplish, in the State of Illinois, the very same results that FOCA would do nationally! They are moving quickly to have it scheduled to be heard March 4 at 8:00 a.m. in the Human Services Committee. Now is the time to take action. See the information below as to exactly what you can do to help.

Please help educate the members of the Human Services Committee on the dangers of the Freedom Of Choice Act (FOCA) and urge them to vote "NO" on HB 2354. If Illinois should pass this bill, abortion would be enshrined as a right in Illinois. All the protections that have been fought for over the years would be gone, protections for women, parental notification, ban on partial birth abortion, conscience clause for doctors and health care providers, no tax payer funding. Let’s do what we can to kill the bill in committee. The FOCA bill is now in the Human Services Committee scheduled to be heard March 4 at 8:00 am. Please contact them today.

    Petition Against FOCA in Illinois

Students for Life of Illinois has initiated a petition to lawmakers in Springfield to show them that Illinois does not support what HB 2354 (Reproductive Justice and Access Act) proposes. The petition will be presented to legislators in Springfield on March 4th when the students are there to rally.

"Planned Parenthood is leading a Lobby Day on March 10th in support of HB 2354. We must have a strong showing both in Springfield and for those who cannot make it to Springfield. That is why we initiated this petition. We want every pro-life voice to be heard," said John-Paul Deddens, director of Students for Life of Illinois. "We will get to Springfield first, but it is imperative that we arrive with as much support as possible." The following are more pieces of legislation being shot down by Obama Nation (being drowned by FOCA RHAA HB-2354,):

In addition to the Mexico City policy and the Kemp/Kasten amendment, these include the Hyde amendment banning any federal funding of abortion; the Dickey/Wicker amendment barring federal funding of research involving the creation or destruction of human embryos; and the Hyde/Weldon amendment guaranteeing the conscience rights of physicians and nurses who choose not to participate in abortions and hospitals that do not offer them.

Just thought pro-lifers should know exactly which pro-life legislation is going to die a quick death with the passage of FOCA.

    Pray!
