Why PP Series: #5: PP Plays Dirty

Posted by Corrina Gura on Thursday, October 30th, 2008

BREAKING NEWS from Students For Life of America!!! Jill Stanek has posted to her blog SFLA's most recent PP expose! A counselor at Freehold Planned Parenthood in New Jersey counseled a woman about her abortion–admitting that sometimes during an abortion the baby is born alive, but it doesn't survive long!!! This directly violates the Born Alive Infants Protection Act!

Planned Parenthood logo covered with mudIn this segment of my “Why Planned Parenthood” Series, I’d like to broaden the scope to look at the various other bad behavior and crimes PP has been accused of.

Planned Parenthood thinks they don’t have to play by the rules. Their failure to report statutory rapists is certainly one element of this. However, they also don't feel they have to follow the same rules other organizations that receive taxpayer funding do. [Continue reading . . . »]

Why PP Series: #4: PP's focus is abortion, not healthcare

Posted by Corrina Gura on Monday, October 27th, 2008

Healthcare not in focusAccording to Planned Parenthood's 2006-2007 Annual Report, only 3% of their services are abortion. But let's look at the numbers.

Each year PP sees 3,051,144 "unduplicated clients;" this number divided by the number of abortions (264,943) means 8.6% of their clients have an abortion. Why do you suppose that PP plays with the numbers to make it look like abortion is a smaller part of their business than it is? (It’s a rhetorical question.) [Continue reading . . . »]

Thank You, John Thorne

Posted by Roger on Monday, October 27th, 2008

In today's Aurora Beacon, Andre Sales wrote an article entitled Something is missing at council meetings. In this article, on the front page, Andre shares his admiration for pro-lifer John Thorne.

The article points out that John Thorne has consistently appeared before the city council since FVFAPP learned about Planned Parenthood and began addressing the council.

Thank you John Thorne for your perseverance and dedication to the cause of life. May all of us show the same perseverance in our prayers and efforts to bring life back to Aurora.

God Bless,
Roger

Why PP Series: #3: PP hurts women

Posted by Corrina Gura on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

A Sad GirlI have already covered the issue of PP's cover-up of statutory rape and their assault on youth, but I also want to address the crimes PP commits against all women, not just minors.

At our League office, we have a list of lawsuits against the Chicagoland Planned Parenthood clinics that our sidewalk counselors offer to women seeking abortions there. The list includes case 07L009004, in which Latanya M. sued PP for failing to diagnose an ectopic pregnancy which caused her to need her fallopian tube removed and caused a permanent disability; case 06L8071, in which Lauren L. sued PP for not requiring a medical history and thus prescribing birth control that caused her to develop a blood clot; and cases 99L4076, 93L1595, 93L6459, and 92L14559, in which women sued because their uterus was perforated during the abortion.

This list is only a list for one particular PP clinic-this isn't the only PP with a list of lawsuits against it, it just happens to be the only list I have at my fingertips. [Continue reading . . . »]

Why PP Series: #2: PP is Targeting America's Youth

Posted by Corrina Gura on Monday, October 20th, 2008

Kids in Planned Parenthood's CrosshairsAs a logical follow up to the first segment PP Shelters Child Rapists, this post covers PP attack on America's youth-and it is yet another story of deception.

Planned Parenthood spends a lot of time "educating" youth about sex, contraceptives, and abortion. This makes sense, since kids who don't have sex don't need PP's "health care services" and PP won't make any money. They push for "comprehensive sex ed" in the schools, claiming that if kids know about contraception, unwanted pregnancies will be reduced and everyone will be happy.

If only this were true. [Continue reading . . . »]

Why PP Series #1: PP Shelters Child Predators and Rapists

Posted by Corrina Gura on Friday, October 17th, 2008

Lila Rose from the Bill O'Rielly interview via YoutubeI think this is a good place to start, since it's been splashed all over YouTube and every pro-lifer has already heard at least some of these stories. The YouTube videos tell the story much better than my words can, so I'm not going to write a whole lot on this one.

Lila Rose, a pro-life UCLA student produced an excellent exposé video, posing as a 15 year old girl who was having sex with a much older man. Planned Parenthood workers were more than happy to help her cover up the statutory rape.

In North Carolina, two young women posed as 15 year old girls who had sex with a 30 year old man recorded their encounters with Planned Parenthood employees. [Continue reading . . . »]

New Series: Why we are against Planned Parenthood in particular

Posted by Corrina Gura on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Planned Parenthood Bad for Aurora Sign Outside Planned Parenthood AuroraOver the next two weeks, I will be posting explanations to this blog of why we are fighting Planned Parenthood in particular, rather than simply criticizing all abortion providers. I will be addressing each issue separately and providing a number of links for further information. I look forward to a passionate discussion on these topics!

So first, who/what is Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood is the epitome of the abortion-on-demand movement and its goals. They actively seek to bring abortion to the entire world. They perform 197,000 abortions each year; they have performed more than three million abortions since 1970. Operating 855 clinics, they are America's largest abortion chain. And they received $2.2 billion dollars in taxpayer funds between 1987 and 2001. A whopping 30% of PP's income is from the government. The Joint Summit Resolution from the Pro-Life Action League's National Pro-Life Leadership Summit is also very clear about why pro-life groups oppose Planned Parenthood.

Prayers and hope on a dark day

Posted by Matt Yonke on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Pro-lifers pray on the anniversary of Planned Parenthood's openingToday, October 2, 2008, is the first anniversary of the day that Planned Parenthood Aurora first opened its doors. After months of protest, petitioning government, and constant prayer, that was a dark day for Fox Valley's pro-life community.

And while today was a day of mourning for the babies who have lost their lives at the Abortion Fortress and their hurting mothers, the mood of the fifty pro-lifers who gave their lunch hour to pray at the vigil site was also full of hope.

Timeline of the fight against Planned Parenthood

Posted by Matt Yonke on Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Huge crowd at Jericho March Finale

As we observe the anniversary of Planned Parenthood opening its doors here in Aurora, we thought it would be helpful to post a timeline of all that has gone on from the time we first caught wind of their plans to the present.

March 1, 2007: First Rumors
A core group of pro-lifers gathers to discuss rumors of an abortion facility opening in Aurora, presumed to be the re-opening of a facility that had closed in November 2006.
April 12, 2007: Community Meeting
The League holds a community meeting with local pro-lifers to discuss an action plan for dealing with abortion returning to Aurora.
May 12, 2007: Picket at Old Abortion Facility.
Aurora pro-lifers picket the site of the former abortion facility with signs reading "Keep Abortion Out of Aurora".
