Student,

If you will note, your comment on PPAurora was not published. Get the picture? Their blog is about as balanced as the information they provide when counseling a pregnant woman.

truthseeker says:
Thank you for continuing to fight the good fight against the baby shredders.

kathy says:
Such harsh words from a so-called christian truthseeker.

Christians today live in a harsh world kathy. Last year when some sanity was brought to the US Supreme Court they finally put some stop to the pro-choice train when the outlawed people from carrying out the barbaric procedure known as partial borth abortion. Here is a description that was sgiven as part of that decision. The words are harsh, but Christians are living in a harsh world:

What could Barack and Michelle Obama say to Jesus in order to get his blessing in their personal decision promote Partial Birth Abortion. You know the procedure right? This is an abortion doctor’s clinical description:
“‘At this point, the right-handed surgeon slides thefingers of the left [hand] along the back of the fetusand “hooks” the shoulders of the fetus with the index and ring fingers (palm down).
“‘While maintaining this tension, lifting the cervix and applying traction to the shoulders with the fin-gers of the left hand, the surgeon takes a pair of bluntcurved Metzenbaum scissors in the right hand. He carefully advances the tip, curved down, along the spine and under his middle finger until he feels it con-tact the base of the skull under the tip of his middle finger.“‘[T]he surgeon then forces the scissors into the base of the skull or into the foramen magnum. Havingsafely entered the skull, he spreads the scissors to enlarge the opening.“‘The surgeon removes the scissors and introduces a suction catheter into this hole and evacuates the skull contents. With the catheter still in place, he appliestraction to the fetus, removing it completely from the patient.’”

Here is another description from a nurse who witnessed the same method performed on a 26½-week fetus and who testified“‘Dr. Haskell went in with forceps and grabbed thebaby’s legs and pulled them down into the birth canal. Then he delivered the baby’s body and the arms—everything but the head. The doctor kept the head right inside the uterus. . . .“‘The baby’s little fingers were clasping and un-clasping, and his little feet were kicking. Then the doctor stuck the scissors in the back of his head, and the baby’s arms jerked out, like a startle reaction, like a flinch, like a baby does when he thinks he is going to fall. “‘The doctor opened up the scissors, stuck a high-powered suction tube into the opening, and sucked thebaby’s brains out. Now the baby went completely limp. . . . “‘He cut the umbilical cord and delivered the pla-centa. He threw the baby in a pan, along with theplacenta and the instruments he had just used.’”

And speaking of harsh Christians, pray tell, what would Barack and Michelle Obama say to Jesus in order to get his blessing in their personal decision promote and hold fund-raisers for Partial Birth Abortion. You know the "harsh" procedure detailed above.....

Student,

Thanks for that post on the PP blog! Quite evenhanded of you. I'll be interested to see how that plays out.

As to your question about adoption, I'm going to have to give that some more thought. I don't want to give you a shoddy answer as it's an important question.

Student says: "In fact, if every PL person in America adopted one child, I doubt we'd need the foster system. So, if in your mind every child is wanted, why are so many languishing in foster care?"

August 4th, 2008 at 5:57 pm

Foster care is intended to be a temporary placement for the child. Reunification of the family is the primary goal. The majority of children in foster care are reunited with their parents or primary caretaker. If that's not feasible, workers try to place the child in a permanent adoptive home as soon as possible. Each case is unique; you could keep a child for a few months or even a year. Department of Human Services

Your justification that, we should kill the already conceived human in the womb, and not allow them to be born because we have other children already needing homes is sounding very much like a Hitler mentality. There is no justification for murder of the innocent. Besides, many of these children ended up in Foster homes because of parents who are living very immoral lifestyles, drugs, adultery, violence etc... (the innocent should not be killed because of others sins, or for any reason.) And you question Christianity? Teaching what Christ teaches would help people live more harmonious lives. Why work against a people who offer a way of life that will help and does help the world know what real love is and live healthier, more peaceful lives?

My wife and I are quite young and still having children of our own, but we have discussed the possibility of adopting later in life. I can certainly tell you that if, for whatever reason, we were unable to have more children of our own we would definitely start adopting immediately.
But if there is so much concern for children, and I think we both recognize the huge need, why not help those that are actually here without families. Why are people having more children when the ones that are here don't have families? THAT is what doesn't make sense to me.

Matt,
Thanks for the link. I really didn't know they had such a blog. However, in the interest of fairness, I'm conducting my own experiment. Under the "Group Argues for Censorship" heading I posted the following:

As a supporter of PP, I question why there is a need for "comment moderation" on a blog about "Censorship." Shouldn't we all be able to exchange ideas freely.....ESPECIALLY when it comes to censorship?

Let's see what happens. I posted under "Anonymous" and will watch to see if it shows up in the next few days.

Student,

http://ppaurora.blogspot.com

I have commented there numerous times myself and not one of my comments has made it through moderation. I was always very careful to be concise and charitable, but they simply don't let comments from opposing viewpoints through.

If you think this blog is bad, it's communist china over there!

As to your adoption question, I spent quite a while today trying to find statistics on this and have come up dry so far, though I'm waiting to hear back from one source.

Lacking hard data on how many pro-lifers adopt, I can say from personal experience that I know MANY who have adopted and when they do, they usually go for broke and adopt quite a large number of children.

My wife and I are quite young and still having children of our own, but we have discussed the possibility of adopting later in life. I can certainly tell you that if, for whatever reason, we were unable to have more children of our own we would definitely start adopting immediately.

But to label it hypocritical for pro-lifers to not choose to adopt is sort of like saying it's hypocritical for a person who is vegetarian for reasons of conscience for not taking a cow into their home. Adoption is a huge and life changing decision that not everyone is cut out for.

Anyway, I'll get back to you if I do find any hard data.
