To me the story says vote for the candidate who best represents God. Don't worry whether or not if the candidate has a chance to win. Just do what Jesus would do and put "Your Trust In God" and God will do the rest.

I thought about my above question for a long time. Then I read this inspiring story below and it gave me the answer.

-------

THE ROCK

From Mike O'Melia

There was a man who had a dream. He heard God speaking to him. "Press hard against the large rock". He did not understand this until the morning. He looked out from his hut and saw a huge rock that had rolled down the hillside.

He began to push and push, but he could not move the rock. Throughout the day he had several attempts, but he could not move it. Convinced that God had spoken to him, he made a mission of this task and for weeks he spent some hours every day but he could not budge the rock.

A traveler came by and asked him what he was doing. "God told me to move this rock" he replied. The traveler laughed and said, "You must be mistaken. You will never move a rock that large". Still the man continued his attempts to move the rock without success. Another traveler came by some weeks later and asked what he was doing.

"God told me to move this rock" he replied. The traveler scorned him and said, "Your God is stupid to ask such a thing. It is impossible. Give up". That night the man turned to God in his prayer. "Lord, I have done what you asked, but the task is impossible and it seems you have made fun of me. The travelers have mocked me for believing that I could move the rock as you asked me to do".

Then God spoke gently to him "My son. Look at your strong arms and legs; look at the rippling muscles in your back; look at the tanned hardness of your skin. Look at your increased strength. Look what has happened to you. You are a different man! I asked you to press against the rock and this you have done. I never told you to move it!"

Someone asked me this question...

-------

Candidate 1 or Candidate 2 are likely to win the Presidential Election. Most people feel Candidate 3 has no chance to win the election.

Candidate 1 is 100% Pro-Abortion and calls himself/herself "Pro-Choice".

Candidate 2 is somewhere between 100% Pro-Abortion & 100% Pro-Life but calls himself/herself "Pro-Life".

Candidate 3 is 100% Pro-Life and calls himself/herself "Pro-Life".

Abortion is no-doubt by far the #1 issue in the election since no other issue or combination of issues has killed over 45 million babies to date.

Who Would Jesus Vote For (WWJD)?

A) Candidate 1
B) Candidate 2
C) Candidate 3

Everyone! Miracles do happen and for the sake of our country and the pro-life cause start praying for Mike Huckabee for president, with God all things are possible! Get the word out he is a Godly man and fully pro-life. Pray, pray, pray! If then, there seems to be no hope pro-lifers must vote for McCain because Clinton and most especially Obama are evil!!! and God have mercy on us if one of them win!

Dan the Methodist--

I really admire your attempts to have pro-life beliefs accepted and validated by your church, even in the face of opposition from your pastor. That takes a lot of grit and determination, and it is commendable. I think, though, that you are underestimating the scope of the problem. I went to a UMC college and I saw the pro-choice and pro-open-sexuality bias of the college leaders and also many friends who were later to become Methodist pastors. The fact is, the entire UMC in the United States is not pro-life. This is a quote from their official website,

"We recognize the tragic conflicts of life with life that may justify abortion and urge prayerful consideration by all parties involved. We assert the right of every person to die with dignity."

This is bigger than your personal church, your congregation, and your pastor. I pray that you will make a difference that hopefully will ripple throughout the Methodist Church, but I am not surprised at the opposition you have faced. My experience with Methodism has been that some individuals and leaders are willing to sacrifice God's clear direction in favor of "tolerance." May God be with you as you talk to your pastor and others in your congregation.

Dan the Methodist,
I recommend reading Jeremiah chapter one. It could prove inspirational in your batlles to keep the Methodist Church a dwelling where it is taught that all life belongs to the Lord.

Dan the Methodist,
The fact that your pastor is even talking about it is a positive thing. Maybe he doesn't say sex and abortion at the puplpit cause he wants to keep it clean. It should be easier to discern when you talk with ech other "one on one". Scripture is always helpful. Ask and God will show you the chapter and verse.

Thanks Paul.
Since my pastor isn't letting me brush the congregation with ideas, then I will confront him.
He had a sermon full of generalities last Sunday that will strike him to the core when I replace a few choice generalities like temptation, forbidden fruit, and consequences with Sex, Sex and Abortion.
It should be very enlightening.

Dan the Methodist. The only suggestion/advice I can offer is to perservere and take it n baby steps. Sometimes we can only get people to understand a bit at a time. Any idividual within the church may use different "reasoning" to justify abortion in their head. You need to ask the right questions and listen to each persons rationale so you can help them understand the failed logic in their rationale both scientifically and according to God's plan for mankindand. I will include you and succss in your efforts in my prayers during this Lenten season.

Yours in Jesus Christ,
Paul2
