UPDATE: Our continuing battle in the court room

Monday, February 25th, 2008

GavelOur fight against Planned Parenthood in the courts is continuing, and every day that goes by brings us one step closer to getting to the bottom of PP's lies in coming into Aurora and, God willing, one step closer to kicking them out.

Tom Brejcha and Peter Breen at the Thomas More Society Pro-Life Law Center have been working tirelessly as well as getting some input from some attorneys from Washington D.C. who contributed to the NOW v. Scheidler trial. All the attorneys are very excited about these cases. We could see some big waves rippling out from Aurora, IL in the coming years.

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

From top: Lawrence, Kifowit and BeykirchIt looks like this week is the week for Aurora City Council members to be in the news. Three of our distinguished Aldermen made headlines this week (so far). Rick Lawerence, Stephanie Kifowit and Chris Beykirch.

What would you say to each of these aldermen?

What would you say to YOUR alderman?

(Please indicate your ward number in any comments. Ward Map)

Rick Lawerence was selected by the Illinois State Crime Commission to receive the 2008 Award of Excellence in Government. Way to go Alderman Lawerence! (Our family lives in the 4th ward, so we are especially proud.) [Continue reading . . . »]

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Picket line Feb 16We had another great turnout for our monthly protest at Planned Parenthood Saturday. More than 130 people participated in the big picket line along the bike path on the south side of New York Street. Another two dozen gathered across the road from the abortuary to pray and offer help to abortion-bound mothers.

Remembering Edrica: Killed by Planned Parenthood

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Memorial for Edrica GoodeOne night last February, a 21-year-old college student named Edrica Goode fell severely ill. Her mother and her sister, a registered nurse, couldn't figure out what was wrong with her. Nor could the hospital where they took her.

The girl was so incoherent the hospital even sent her for exam at a nearby mental facility, only to have her sent back. On Valentines Day 2007, Edrica died of a massive septic infection.

Now we're getting somewhere!

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Yesterday at 3:32 p.m., our zoning case [PDF] against Planned Parenthood and the City of Aurora was filed in Illinois State Court! Finally, we have moved out of the cloistered city politics of Aurora and into State Court, where our case can finally be heard.

The case, brought by five courageous residents of the Oakhurst neighborhood and FVFAPP, will finally call Planned Parenthood to task for their lies and deceit. The City will be forced to admit what they knew when, and PP will be forced to give an account for their lies to City officials and the community.

City Council to vote on abortion restriction tonight

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Former abortion facility on GalenaTonight the Aurora City Council will vote on an ordinance (PD07.012) that would restrict abortions from being performed at 523 W. Galena Boulevard—the site of the notorious "Jakubowski" abortuary.

The new owner of the building, who is pro-life, wants to rent the building to a general practice doctor, which requires a special use permit. He has asked the council to grant that permit with a proviso that abortions cannot be performed there.

I will live-blog the meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. This ordinance is the second item under "unfinished business" and seven or eight neighbors who were involved in the pro-life witness at the old abortuary will speak in favor of it. Tune in then . . .

Two more lives saved at PP!

Monday, February 11th, 2008

God is working powerfully through our Sidewalk Counselors! I just got word today of two other young mothers turning away from Planned Parenthood and choosing life. These stories come from Kristine, a regular sidewalk counselor and prayer warrior. If you're not out on the sidewalk, stories like these ought to get you there. Sign up today, and be a part of this crucial work!

I am a counselor at PP and I would like you all to know the two miracles that have happened in the last two Saturdays.

Last Saturday, February 2, a woman and her aunt were going to turn into PP and were distracted by us waving our literature. As they passed us up they saw Randy's graphic abortion sign and started to cry, leaving an open door for us to talk and pray with them. [Continue reading . . . »]

Sidewalk Counseling Works!

Monday, February 11th, 2008

On Friday, Karen from Holy Angels Church and Sandy from First Presbyterian Church had the great blessing of helping a couple at Planned Parenthood choose life instead of abortion! Great work Karen and Sandy! Here is the story in Karen's own words

On Friday, Feb. 8, I joined the dedicated pro-lifers from First Presbyterian Church in Aurora to pray and offer help to the women at Planned Parenthood.

In the last half of the morning a man pulled out of Planned Parenthood's parking lot and stopped to accept my literature. He had brought a woman to the clinic before I had arrived. [Continue reading . . . »]
