Messages for the Mayor: Videos from the City Council Meeting
Posted by Jeff, October 19th, 2007
When the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic opened a few weeks back, I’m certain that Mayor Weisner, Steve Trombley and the pro-aborts expected us to go home and consider the case over. Well they couldn’t have been more wrong!
I attended last week’s City Council meeting and was quite honestly surprised to see so many pro-lifers out in force to maintain pressure on the Mayor and to support life. The City Council meeting was once again packed with citizens demanding that the Mayor enforce Aurora laws and shut down the clinic. But the scene outside of city hall was equally compelling, as crowds of pro-lifers gathered to protest the Mayor’s actions and pray for the clinic to close.
With growing limits on citizen speeches during council meetings, I asked those outside if they had any messages for the Mayor… and did they! Many citizens no longer have a voice in Aurora City Council meetings, but they were still eager to send a message, even a small one, to the Mayor.
Although speeches were limited even further this time, those who COULD speak consistently questioned the Mayor’s handling of the “independent” investigations. The pro-life messages came from all walks of life - a young girl asking the Mayor if it is OK to lie, a woman questioning the Mayor’s use of the term “minority”, and Eric Scheidler and Vince Tessitore pointing out glaring flaws with the Mayor’s legal conclusions.
One of the most motivating moments for me came when a speaker quoted Luke 18, "Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'
"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "
When I consider this, I should have known that our side would not be deterred by the clinic’s opening – we have the Truth on our side, and are assured that our persistence will pay off. We knew the battle in Aurora was going to take all of our energy, time, and patience, and we knew this battle would include some counter-attacks and "victories" for PP. I was inspired to see that so many people understood this and remained vigilant in their efforts to close the clinic.
Planned Parenthood underestimated us once and it caught them by surprise - let's be sure to surprise them again by staying strong, praying hard, and letting our voices be heard. I can hardly wait for the "We're Here for Life" Rally on Oct 27!
Jeff,
Thanks for your post and video!

I hope the Mayor is watching these videos. It's what a free society is all about. The citizens of Aurora had no voice in the mega abortiom mill that moved into our town, we will not be silenced. Did anyone see the front page article in the Fox Valley Villages entitled "Little Miracles"? It's a great article about the Level III neonatal intensive care unit at Rush-Copley Hospital, which is minutes away from the Planned Parenthood abortuary. The article is about reunions the hospital has yearly with some of its former patients. Some of which were as small as 23 weeks gestation. Remember this, because Planned Parenthood has promised to do abortions at it's Aurora location into the 2nd trimester, wich is up to 27 weeks. Down the street babies of the same gestation or younger are being saved. How do we as a city or a nation based on a democracy tolerate this?
