Here's why we're going to win

The Dragon

Its all I can do when one of the Scheidlers shows up to NOT run them over.

—JeffW, comment on The Daily Kos

This comment on a post at the radical left-wing blog The Daily Kos about the September 25 City Council meeting illustrates why the pro-life movement will ultimately prevail. This reason is simple:

We are not filled with hatred for our opposition. We are not afraid to talk to them. We are not content to merely assert the correctness of our position and sniff at anyone who questions us.

Take a look at that post at The Daily Kos. The original author, "Got a Grip," isn't too bad, though he or she seethes with contempt for the pro-life crowd in the City Council Chamber. But the comments are a hot bath of vitriole.

What's notable is how much time and energy is devoted to slamming me and my father and the rest of the pro-life "rabble." They really have no argument other than "pro-lifers are a bunch of knuckle-draggers."

They can't defend Planned Parenthood's deception of the people of Aurora except with a flimsy ends-justify-the-means argument premised on our violence and hostility—but anyone can see who's really hostile.

Much less can they defend abortion itself, which we all know—anyone who's really thought about it at all—is the killing of an innocent unborn human being. It's indefensible.

I'm pro-choice, Anti-Weisner, and pro nailing your backwards, red neck, religious right wing ass to a cross and then driving you out of town!

on Openline Blog

So instead they attack us. That's the one-note tune Planned Parenthood has been whistling from the moment they were found out. They had to trick the people of Aurora because of us dangerous pro-lifers. We're "intimidating"; we're "violent"; we're "filled with hate."

Sure. Just read through those comments on the Daily Kos or at the new Planned Parenthood Aurora blog and see who's really filled with hate.

Everyone in town knows that our Vigil has been peaceful. We have cooperated with the police every step of the way, even when they were enforcing policies from above that abridged our First Amendment rights.

Not one of us has committed a crime, while all manner of crimes have been directed against us—from indecent exposure to being struck with eggs to having our yard signs stolen by the score all over town.

Yet Planned Parenthood's supporters continue to pretend that the deceit was justified because of how scary we are. As Eric Zorn put it, "Planned Parenthood didn't mislead and evade Aurora officials simply to avoid peaceful prayer vigils and protests against abortion."

But maybe "peaceful prayer vigils and protests" are exactly what Planned Parenthood should have feared from the first—because our peaceful prayer vigil, now in it's 52nd day, punctuated by several protests, is bringing them down.

In fact, I think that is exactly what Planned Parenthood feared from the beginning—the peaceful exercise by the people of Aurora of their basic freedoms: free speech, public discussion, a say in the destiny of our own community.

You all are communist a**holes its too bad that you all were not aborted
. . . hope you all burn in hell.

—Comment on this blog

That's why they did everything they could to avoid notifying the public of their intention to operate a not-for-profit medical facility in an area where such a facility would require a special use permit.

That's why people like JeffW, with his vehicular homicidal fantasies, aren't interested in having a conversation with us. That's why our comments are deleted off of their blogs. Their position is indefensible, and even they begin to realize it when they engage in dialog; so they hole up and talk about how awful we are.

That's why nobody from Planned Parenthood would come on Fox News Channel's "Weekend Live" program with me this morning. They have nothing to gain from open conversation, from answering questions; they've pitted everything on hiding the truth.

It's no wonder. They kill the unborn child in the secret darkness of the womb. Because that brutal killing is hidden, they get away with it. Small wonder they turned to a scheme of deception to erect the Abortion Fortress of Aurora.

We are going to win in the end because we are not afraid of the Truth. We are not afraid of dialog and discussion. We are not afraid of any case they can make, because we know our case is better.

I hope someone has the b***s to blow you all up.

—Email from LCJ

Our case is better not only because we're right, but because we've had to work at it. The 1973 Roe v. Wade coup forced the pro-life movement in to a position of tremendous weakness, from which we have fought back with tireless energy and creativity over the past 34 years.

We're winning in Aurora today because over the past 34 years we've learned to engage the culture and make our case. The pro-abortion side had their case made for them in 1973, and they've been avoiding talking about abortion ever since.

But they've had to go to such lengths to hide the truth about abortion that now we're beating them in Aurora not over when human life begins, but over when such-and-such permit is required by the Aurora Zoning Ordinance. Their web of deception has been spun that wide.

We can't overturn Roe v. Wade here in Aurora, but we sure can show what the Zoning Ordinance actually says. And the Abortion Fortress of Aurora—that "monument to deception"—will be demolished by the Truth.

    Great POST!!!!

I was happy that you also notified everyone about that group from Wisconsin that were a little more aggressive. I am proud of the way that our campaign has been handled.

Also a great point about the courts subverting the legislative process in this country, on all levels.

I would also like to add that Planned Parenthood seems to be much like The Wizard of OZ in that they are pretty much a smoke and fire show. When we realize what is actually going on behind that "Curtain" we all should be asking ourselves, "Why were we distracted and fearful because of a manufactured facade?"
They have fooled others in to worshiping them with finances and liberals who have taken up Abortion as the sacrament of liberalism in our legislature across the country. It is the first thing you do to get backing as a liberal. Does anyone remember pro-lifer Dick Durbin???
He stumbled like the Cowardly Lion and sold his soul to "Reproductive Rights" for Power.
When we ask ourselves, "In 2005 was the abortion ratio to births actually 1 to 1?" We should hear the alarm go off in our heads and say that enough is enough.
We may not be able to overturn a court decision, but by limiting the number of Abortion Clinics in this country, starting with Aurora, we will also limit the number of abortions in our community and in our country as a whole. When we finally get everyone else to see behind the curtain with open eyes maybe we too will wake up from this nightmare.

Eric, that was an excellent piece of true rhetoric, in the best sense of the word. Congratulations on putting into words what we all know and would like to be able to say as well as that!

I agree that we will win, or better, God will win, or even better, Christ has already defeated death, sin and hell – once and for all on the Cross! The battle for souls still rages on. Therefore let us fight the good fight; let us run the race. This is not just about the lives of the unborn, it is about the salvation of souls as well.

One more comment: "Mr. Weisner: Tear down that Hall -of death!"

What a great post, Eric. So well put.

The absence of a Planned Parenthood representative on the Fox News interview speaks volumes. I couldn't believe it when I saw it! They don't want to (or can't) debate and they keep hiding from the truth.

Planned Parenthood's colors are really showing and they continue to receive bad national publicity. I am surprised how many of my neighbors and colleagues didn't realize that Planned Parenthood performs abortions. Now so many people nationwide are finding out the truth about PP: They rip babies out of their mothers' wombs and they lie.

    The Truth will prevail.

  4. JasonH says:

Eric, you're right. It's funny how Planned Parenthood is absent when it involves a debate in the public eye. The Fox News interview and all of the city council meetings have not had a single Planned Parenthood representative. Sure they sent NOW, but even NOW is less than pleased with how PP has handled the abortion clinic.

You are right that what they fear the most is for the public to learn the truth. The truth about how they got permission to build their clinic and the truth about everything they stand for.

I hope and pray that our representatives in the city will not be so hard-hearted and deceived that they allow the abortion clinic to open regardless of the laws they have intentionally side-stepped or broken, unlike Mr. Obama.

You people are awful. The horrible pictures you show along the roads of abortions are terrifying for children. When applying for building permits they wouldn't have to hide if you people were not so violent.

Not as terrifying as actually being murdered, which is of course what abortion DOES to children.

You know, I'd have to say you are more awful for not caring that children are getting ripped to shreds by abortion. Maybe these terrified children of which you speak will grow up and do something about this abomination.

Ok this is what i don't get…I am pro=life. I can say that, at 16 I was one of those girls sitting on one of those tables. But I didn't get it done and I never regret it. But to say that Planned Parenthood is BAD!!!! Yes they do abortions, but they do offer other things. Education, prevention, and other options. You just don't go in there and say I want an abortion and they okay how bout 7 am tomorrow. NO!!!! They make you sit and watch a video, they make you speak with a counsler, they do offer other options! People realize you can't stop your kids from having SEX!! They will do it whether you like it or not. Give them the options to have safe sex. Help them do it right! And if you don't believe me, easedrop on your junior high student and see what they're saying. Yes abstinance is the best way, but you can't force that on someone. Believe me, if I had a planned parenthood closer to me I think my life would have had a different turnout! And maybe it you talked to your kids about sex and not made it so taboo and oh so bad, maybe they would tell what was going on and this debate of parent permission wouldn't exsist. SEX IS NOT TABOO AND IT IS NOT BAD!!!!

  13. April Scheidler says:

My children have never been terrified by those pictures. They are sympathetic and dismayed only when they find out that this is legal in our country. Then they want to know how we can stop it. I try to explain how the mommy was confused and didn't know what she was doing, and how we should pray for all those mothers who submitted to abortion from a misunderstanding. I can't imagine having to defend the crime of abortion to a child, though. That could be truly terrifying to a child to know that their own parents support this bloody genocide.

The people holding the pictures are not violent. They are exposing the violence of abortion to people who largely refuse to face the reality of abortion. It is ugly and terrifying to contemplate, as it should be to anyone with a conscience or a heart.

  14. Erin says:

Planned Parenthood is bad because they will sit across from you face to face and say–this baby is not a baby. It's just a thing. The only person you have to consider in making a decision about abortion is yourself–not your parents who may have serious concerns, not even your boyfriend or husband, certainly not the baby (because it is not a baby). Whatever choices or options or counselling they offer, this is their premise. It is "bad" to deny that a person is a human being, and to insist that a person is expendable just because s/he is inconvenient. It's very bad. It's Nazi bad, it's Stalin bad, it's slavery bad, it's eugenics bad. It's very, very bad.

    In response to Michelle:

I want to applaud you for not having an abortion when you were 16, and for your Pro-life stance!! That takes a great deal of courage!!

In regards to your comments: "People realize you can't stop your kids from having sex. They will do it whether you like it or not," I find it sad to make a generalization like this. I am a teacher, and I think that gives kids far too little credit. Kids are smart, and capable of making wise, and informed decisions. Kids are capable of acting with self control. We should hold our children to high standards, and expect great things from them. Yes, definitely parents need to talk to their children about sex; and they need to convey how serious of a responsibility and a commitment it is. Each time a man and woman have sex, there is a possibility that a baby could come from that union. If we don't accept this as truth, then we find ourselves viewing pregnancy as a problem, when it is a gift!! ♥♥

I wish you all the best!!

I have to agree with the above, the pictures you show along the side of the road are tasteless, if you are so against it, why would you want to look at it all day? You don't want Planned Parenthood in your neighborhood, well I don't want those pictures in mine!

  22. Heidi says:

I am so saddened that our city of Aurora is going to be the abortion capital of the U.S. Well, God has a way of smiting places like this for evil can never prevail forever. Good always wins out in the end. However, in the meantime, so many babies will not have a chance at life because of the selfishness of their mothers. Furthermore, teenagers are not animals that NEED sex. They CAN say NO, but with a PP facility in the area, it now gives them a "ticket" to go out and have sex, and YES, premarital sex is a grave sin. It's in the bible.

  23. Paul says:

    Heidi, you said:

"I am so saddened that our city of Aurora is going to be the abortion capital of the U.S."

Aurora is not the abortion capital of the U.S.A. Not yet, and hopefully it never will be. [I believe that New York , either the city or the state, tragically, has more abortions than any other state (or city).]

We will not stop our prayers or peaceful efforts to close down this evil fortress of death. This is still a free country, with a government of the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE and for the PEOPLE. Let us exercise our God-given and federally guaranteed rights.

Therefore, Good People of Aurora, and of the surrounding communities, and of Illinois: be united in prayer and in support of all measures, peaceful and legal, that support and defend the sanctity of human life, from conception until natural death. "Pray for your enemies, do good to those who curse you; bless and do not curse." "Speak the truth in love." "Fight the good fight."

Keep going to the Aurora city council meetings and speaking up. Attend the FVFAPP-organized protests. Tell your neighbors and others the truth about abortion and PP. Support local Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Defeat the culture of death by promoting the Civilization of Love and Life!
