Favorite speeches from the 9/25 City Council meeting
Posted by Jeff on Friday, September 28th, 2007
I've posted my top 5 speeches from Tuesday's Aurora City Council meeting (in no particular order), providing a interesting mix of styles and viewpoints - there's a call to demolish the clinic, a funny yet compelling story about lies and evictions, straightforward legal reasoning, questions about bulletproof glass, and even a little infighting between the pro-aborts. Enjoy….
- —–
- Local Aurora citizen asks why Planned Parenthood constructed a building with bulletproof glass but never bothered to tell the neighborhood! Makes you ask what kind of neighbor IS Planned Parenthood?!
- Local Aurora citizen tells a story about when SHE was evicted and asks why Planned Parenthood gets special treatment. Great argument and pretty funny too! (my personal favorite)
- Lawyer Vince Tessitore's speech (read by Elizabeth Earl) explains that the Aurora Planned Parenthood abortion clinic failed to receive the necessary Special Use permit. Elizabeth did an AMAZING job with this speech considering it was the first time she had read it!
- Eric Scheidler also explains that PP failed to receive the necessary Special Use permit. Eric calls on the city to have this abortion mill demolished!
Rumors are flying that Steve Trombley is losing the support of his own Planned Parenthood members! With all of his mistakes, can you blame them? Here we have Gay Bruhn, VP of Communication for Illinois NOW ripping on Chicago PP CEO Steve Trombley!
Jill,
I was sorry I missed the meeting. Thank you for capturing some highlights.

My name is Jeff.
I've been confused with some other pro-lifers lately… check out the pic from the PP web site… which one is the anti-choice leader/rabble-rouser, and which one is me???

Jeff,
The comments at the link you gave say:
The "cute" "mastermind" does look a little like you, but I'm not sure. Any ideas on who exactly he is?
September 29th, 2007 at 6:10 am
Well, the polo-shirt guy in the pic does look like me, but that guy looks about a foot shorter than I am… or maybe I should learn not to stand next to Eric when I get my picture taken!

Jeff, Just to let you know, I have also uploaded several new YouTube videos of recent FAPP events. I didn't know if we had a special place for these links or not. Some of this video is also running on Comcast Cable Public Access TV (channels 10 and 17) in Aurora and the surrounding citites. I do not know exact times these will air.

Hey there Eric,
Great job to all on the meeting…it is clear that PP circumvented the law with Gemini blah blah LLC in order to avoid the special use permit. Now, the fear is that City Council will down play this and resort to a judgment call which, if they are biased, will result in a big OK from them to PP. If our City Council does so, then they are acting against the written laws of the city and this matter must be taken to a higher court. If they do the right thing and deny PP the occupancy permit, then let's not demolish the building but turn it into a health facility for women run by Pro-Life advocates. I know of at least one that would have the money and the willingness to take on such a project…Dr. A…talk to John.

Hey Denham, I don't know of any special place for the videos, but I'm glad you decided to share the links here… there's some great stuff in your vids… and it's fantastic that you're getting these on Comcast!!!
Peace,
Jeff

im pro choice (for freedom),
The name calling and tone of voice in your post was uncalled for.
We are more than willing to debate on the topic of abortion but we believe the debate should be in the tone of charity and not name calling.

OMGosh! That is freaking HILARIOUS!! I laughed at this till I almost cried!
Ahhh- the typical pro-abort…right on que!
This person is like a vile and vicious rabid dog- who's foaming at the mouth! But instead of foam- it's hate, and instead of a mouth- it's hate, and instead of a whole lovable pooch make'n up "man's best friend" it's- ALL hate!
I love how the pro-abortionists are supposed to be the "enlightened" ones- full of superiority when it comes to compassion, kindness and understanding, and pro-lifer's are the one's who are backwards and evil! But as always- that paragraph just once again shows their true colors…hate and contempt for babies, hate and contempt for the elderly, hate and contempt for the handicapped, hate and contempt for any one who has a differencing opinion from their's, hate and contempt for anyone who believes they may actually be trying to save another human being's life…especially if it gets in the way of them [pro-choicer's]living their self-center ones!

I'll second that. There's a lot of good to be done in debating and sharing opinions on this topic… especially since the intention/reasoning of the pro-life side is often misunderstood or misrepresented… but outright name calling certainly doesn't help anyone.
Peace,
Jeff

im pro choice (for freedom), I respect your passion. I don't know how old you are or if you understand what communism was and what socialism is today. The clear leader in support of Planned Parenthood is and continues to be the Democratic Party. Democrats are also the one party you can count on for socialist policies from health care(which I do think has spiraled out of control) to raising taxes.(We can debate this point later)
The Early Indians who knew nothing of Jesus Christ knew that killing unborn babies was wrong, why do you think that it is right and just???
I am in this to lower the number of abortions in this country significantly. In the same way we cannot stop illegal immigration totally, we cannot stop abortion totally. To throw our hands up and say,"What the hell we can't stop it," isn't a responsible answer to either problem. It takes a will by citizens to do what is right.
Calmly explain why you think that you are right and I will urge others posting to answer with love and without shaming, mocking or stupefying you personally. (Does Stupefying count as a Bush Word?)

abortions should be legal this is the united states, shouldn't the people be allowed to choose? i know it goes against some of your religions, but this is a country who's law is completely separate from religion. Look this is how i see it, if you don't like abortion then don't use it. However if you do, the use it. Keep it legal for those of us who don't have a problem with it. There are bigger problems the then planned parenthood that we should focus on. All of us are wasting time and energy fighting each other on something thats never going to change. We will never change your opinions and you will never change ours. I know I'm not going to wake up one day and switch sides and I don't expect any of you people to ether. We should forget about it and work to fix other problems that are more serious like the war or our city. No one will win this fight. Its pointless.
October 30th, 2007 at 5:11 pm
The fight for life is never pointless. And just cause abortion was legalized a few decades ago does not mean it will be forever. Just last year the US Supreme Court passed a law stating people do not have a right to partial birth abortion. Some people may want to deliver babies up to their chest, slide a scissors up their spine till you feel it at the base of the skull, and grab the babies head firmly with the other hand while puncturing the skull with the scissors. At this point the babies jerks violently and goes stiff as the "doctor" opens the scissors wide and pulls it out of the babies skull. Then sticks a vaccuum
inside the womans uterus and sucks out the babies brains while it finally goes limp.
The above procedure was considered legal in the US since Roe V Wade passed a few decades ago, but just cause something was legal for a time does not mean it will be or should be legal forever. And per the US Supreme court vs. Planned Parenthood in 2006, just cause some people may want to kill their babies this way and organizations like PP are willing to kill babies this way does not mean that they should be allowed to act this way or that they have some type of constitutional right to commit infanticide.
October 30th, 2007 at 7:16 pm
im also pro choice,
Here is something to think about. Before Roe families were stronger and intact, and crime and violence stats were significantly lower. You see when a society has a lack of respect for life, especially for the most vulnerable, then society starts to crumble. We have seen society continue down a dark path. How many times have we heard from the experts that we are so much more violent then we were 30 years ago.
Why should people care about your life or mine when we sanction the killing of unborn children. Do the research, you might surprise yourself at what you find. Violence always begets violence. Want to live in a better society, start by protecting the most vulnerable and lifting up families.

Tara says,
"How many times have we heard from the experts that we are so much more violent then we were 30 years ago."
The experts are wrong…more violent how…lets go back in time for a minute.
1977 - Cold War, NYC Blackout for 25hrs (looting, murders etc…), Vietnam War had ended 6 million dead , AIDS and Crack about to be introduced w/ a higher murder rate throughout the 80s than today
1947 - Cold War beginning, CIA was formed, World War 2 just ended 70 million dead.
1917 - World War 1 20 million dead, Man hunt for Pancho Villa, Cocaine just became illegal one year prior, along w/ heroine and morphine, prohibition 2 yrs later which caused the rise of orginized crime, anyone could bear arms w/out a certificate until 1920.
1865 - US Civil War 620,000 dead
1783 - Revolutionary War 25,000 dead
1500-1890 - 90% of Native American Pop massacred.
I've heard the stat as well that we are more violent in the US now…it is a laughable statistic. Do wars not count as violence? How about mass homocide of an entire culture?
We are much more stable now than the entire short history of the US.

Re: John, #20 above.
I don't mean to take sides (I don't) but ought not your statement be some what "pin pointed" re: "more stable" to distinguish between born vs unborn? Referencing to 50 million murders since 1973 (abortion)?
January 7th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Also, the many times more than 50 million abortions that contraception represents! Abortion kills growth. Contraception kills nature's (God's Preservation) existence of the human race!
January 7th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
please forgive my "hastiness":
"Contraception kills" should be "Contraception ATTEMPTS to kill"….thru it all, God is in absolute control….BUT we are accountable none the less.
January 7th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Abortion is against one's neighbor (the pre-born).
Contraception is against one's self (aborting one's reproductive process).

or (I don't remember exactly)
"You have a duty to be an intellectual."
