Big Win for Life Today in Federal Court!

Outside the Federal Court, 9/20/07I don’t have time for more than just a quick note here; I’ll update later. We won big today in federal court today. Judge Charles Norgle denied Planned Parenthood’s request for a preliminary injunction that would have forced Aurora to issue an occupancy permit so they could open for business. This means that Planned Parenthood will remain closed while the investigation into their dealings with the City of Aurora continues. Aurora remains abortion-free! So what’s next? We need to go back to the City Council this Tuesday, September 25. If you’d like to speak—especially if you’re an Aurora resident—call the City Clerk’s office at 630-844-3615 to sign up. When you’re asked what you want to comment on, say “the investigation into Planned Parenthood.” Please come to the City Council meeting Tuesday even if you don’t wish to speak. We’ll gather at 5:00 p.m. in the courtyard for praise and worship ahead of the 6:00 p.m. meeting. Here’s what we’re asking: Once Kane County State’s Attorney John Barsanti reviews the reports supplied by Richard Martens and Philip Leutkehans (sp?), we want the City Council to discuss those findings in an open City Council meeting, and vote on exactly how the City ought to respond to those findings and any recommendation from Barsanti. This issue is far too important for anything less. We’ve been down to Federal Court twice about this. Nothing short of a full discussion in the City Council, with our elected representatives voting openly on what action to take, will suffice to maintain the integrity of our government here in Aurora.
