Planned Parenthood Lashes Out

It looks like our campaign against Planned Parenthood in Aurora is really hitting home. The national Planned Parenthood organization is getting worried.
Several members of Families Against Planned Parenthood have received phone calls asking for them to support Planned Parenthood by putting up a yard sign.
But apparently they aren't having much success. One phone solicitor hired to make these calls to all the female voters in the area admitted that not many people are willing to support PP in this public way.
So they've also launched a ribbon campaign, calling on their supporters nationwide to sign up to have ribbons put on the trees around their new building here in Aurora.
And here's what Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards wrote in an e-mail alert sent out today (emphasis added):
Ground zero in the fight for women's access to reproductive health care just landed in a town in the middle of America.
Aurora, Illinois.
Aurora's not really a town. It's a fast-growing city outside Chicago where Planned Parenthood just built a large clinic. And ten days ago, the usual suspects in the anti-choice fringe showed up in droves—and by droves, I mean more people are protesting this clinic than we've seen for a long time.
I'm not sure how you square the idea that we're the "fringe" with the idea that we're "showing up in droves," but Richards is right—Ground Zero in the abortion battle has become Aurora, Illinois.
In a statement on their website, Planned Parenthood is trying to smear our local, grassroots movement of regular citizens as violent extremists, and in a letter to our Mayor and Aldermen, they claim that the Pro-Life Action League has a "history of violence."
In fact, the only violence to take place out at the Vigil site has been from the opposition. On just after midnight on Sunday, August 19, two people were arrested for kicking our memorial crosses and shoving a prayer volunteer. And on Monday, a 17-year-old girl was shot in the arm by a pellet from a BB gun fired from an SUV. The driver passed by once shouting obscenities, then drove by again and fired at the girl.
The truth is that the moms and dads, kids and grandparents, pastors and priests from the neighborhood who have come out to pray and protest as part of this effort are totally committed to being peaceful as, of course, is the Pro-Life Action League.
We're used to these kinds of attacks. The opposition doesn't dare confront us on the issues—abortion, chastity, family values, health care—so they try to paint us as extremists instead. Fortunately, our numbers speak for themselves:
- Over 1,200 area pro-lifers came out for the big Pro-Life Rally on August 25, compared to about 15 Planned Parenthood supporters.
- At the City Council last week, only 2 people spoke in favor of Planned Parenthood, versus more than 100 opposed to it.
- Over 500 teens, plus their families, came out for last Saturday's "Youth for Truth" Rally, but not one teenager came out to support the new clinic.
And we've received nothing but praise from the police for how cooperative, orderly and peaceful we've been from day one of the Vigil, which began August 9.
The manifest truth is that we are the mainstream. Planned Parenthood lies when they say that they've got "overwhelming community support." They don't, and anyone can see that.
We've come to expect Planned Parenthood to lie. They lied on their permit applications to the City of Aurora when, wearing the mask of Gemini Development Corporation, they said their tenant was "unknown." They deceived the Aurora Planning and Development Committee into believing a quiet medical facility was moving in when they knew what was coming would be a lightening rod of controversy—the nation's largest abortion facility.
And they lie constantly about the physical and psychological harms of abortion, the effectiveness of contraceptive methods, the dangers of premarital sexual activity and even what abortion is. And they're on record teaching underaged girls to lie in order to get abortions without disclosing the identity of their sexual abusers.
Fortunately, Planned Parenthood has now told so many lies that everyone is getting the message: Planned Parenthood lies to you.

Thanks for the update! Many other Catholics nationwide have linked back to this site via mine and daily, I receive news that people are praying, fasting and offering up sufferings for the situation at hand. God is good.

I plan on getting the word out through my church in Sugar Grove. I have used google maps to let people know that it is only 23 minutes to the new abortion clinic.
I think it will hit home when they realize that a girl from kaneland school could reach the abortion clinic in 40 minutes from school.
Just a thought as you are going to have a booth at the Sandwich Fair. Having those times from different places could come in handy breaking the ice.
For example you could ask where they are from, telling them what city you are from and the time it will take a young girl from thier community to have access to Emergency contraception, "Generally without parental concent for minors." (that quota about Generally without parental concent was from the planned parenthood website)

I find this stunning! Can anyone provide more details? Was a police report filed? I assume the young lady is fine but it must have been a frightening experience for her.
We need to expose the hypocrisy of these ranting, violent pro-aborts.

Hello! I'm not sure where exactly this information fits- but I am grateful for the posting-
There was an error in today's Beacon about the Holy Hour at Our Lady of Mercy Parish being from 7pm-8pm with a candlelight vigil to follow at the clinic. This is INCORRECT.
The Holy Hour at Our Lady of Mercy Parish will be Friday, Sept. 7th from 8:00pm-9:00pm with a candleight vigil to follow at the clinic.

The attack on Joe Scheidler in Steve Trombley's letter to the Aurora City Council is more than a smear campaign against the Pro-Life Action League. I have just read the letter, which has been widely posted on independant blogs. It is a direct libel and slander against Mr. Scheidler.
Will Joe sue PP for this libel? or at least require an apology and a re-statement from Trombley that includes some (!!!) facts?

In response to Jeff's comments on the bb gun attack,
The big gatherings at the clinic both day and night have attracted some trouble makers. I think that it would be a waste of emotion to characterize them as anything more than hooligans and drunks.
I was at the clinic right after the incident and the police response was appropriate and timely. We need to save our indignation for the real pro-abort nut jobs yet to show their faces.

I find it rather ironic that the job description for a Planned Parenthood escort states that the one of the primary responsibilities of an escort is to: "Help ensure that Planned Parenthood patients have a safe and friendly visit". Seems to me like for the unborn children within these mothers' wombs, their visit to this facility will be anything but "safe and friendly".

You may be interested to know that in all of Illinois there were 43,409 abortions in 2005 and 43,537 abortions in 2004 that were reported to the Ill. Dept. of Public Health.
In 2005, the total number of abortions in DuPage, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle, McHenry and Will counties was 4,240 according to the Illinois Dept of Public Health.
Steve Trombley told Daily Herald that this clinic would do 2,400 each year. He also said to Beacon News that Chicago did 9,000 per yr. Since Aurora is bigger, what's the real number to be? With 13 recovery rooms (Trombley in Beacon News), this clinic could do 10 times the 2,400 mentioned and will not pay for itself short of 12-15,000 abortions per year.
Do we really need to create an additonal 1/3 increase in the IL statewide numbers? Will our wives and daughters in the six county area increase their abortions from 4,300 to 10,000? Is this really the under-utilization that PP's Trombley talks about?
Even Hilary Clinton thinks we need less abortions in this country and not more…

Just to clarify on the escort position advertised on PP's web site, it appears to be a volunteer position. Believe it or not, people will actually volunteer to do that. The up side to having escorts around is that pro-lifers have even more people to share the love and mercy of Jesus with.

This could be a target to those women that currently are in crisis during their pregnancy. Is there anything that we can do in order to avoid them to call our house? "Let not him who eats certain food look down upon him who abstains from it, …" (Rom 14, 3-14) This is a passage where Paul, who is a Jew, wants to make clear to his Jewish brethren who are followers of Christ, that they should not judge the Gentiles who do not follow the Mosaic law as far as salvation is concerned. He is explaining the fact that Jews and Gentiles alike can have eternal salvation in Christ and circumcision nor the food laws (kosher etc) do not matter anymore at this point - as long as one follows Christ's commandments. Christ DID NOT come to abolish the Mosaic law, thus the TEN COMMANDMENTS that God gave still hold true for all of us, who follow Christ.
I have a feeling that Danielle is trying to use the quote from Paul's letter to the Romans out of context to throw people off here. Sorry, that won't work.
We are not the judges of people's souls, but we must defend LIFE as we are all created in God's image and likeness and are truly His reflection. Can we thus stand by as our innocent brothers and sisters, who are also created by God in His image and likeness, are being mercilessly and brutally torn from the wombs of their mothers through a deceitful lure of the Devil?

I just wanted to say choose life your mother did.
I am 100% against abortion, people say well what if your raped, I say I had a friend when I was growing up and she was a result of a violant rape but her mother said it wasn't her fault and her baby was a life.
in a rape situation you can always give the baby up for adoption.
what if the doctor says you will die giving birth or your baby will die?
Well if you love your baby wouldn't you give your life for your child? and the doctors aren't always right.
what if you were molested?
Adoption.
There is no excuse for abortion. a heart beat starts in 18 days, and a baby becomes a life at the moment of conception.
I am a woman and I was also a pregnant teenager and I had to make a descision once if I wasnted to keep my baby or have an abortion. I chose life and I am so glad I did because my daughter today is a beautiful young woman.
I have heard that a lot of women or girls that have had abortions can hear baby cries at night that haunt them and the screams don't go away.

While I’m certainly in agreement with Nancy, this is a weak argument and it won’t win anybody over.
Don’t allow yourself to get trapped into defending an unpopular and difficult position over a small minority of abortions. Instead, turn the argument around and force THEM to defend THEIR position over the overwhelming majority.
Here’s an approach I use and it doesn’t compromise my position at all:
THEM: “What about rape and incest?”
YOU: “That’s horrible. Pregnancies from rape and incest are tragic. Just out of curiosity, what percentage of abortions are performed due to rape or incest?”
If they’re honest, they’ll probably admit that they don’t know, but you can still continue with the argument even if they give you a ridiculously high number like 30%.
Assuming they don’t know…
YOU: “I wish you could give me an accurate percentage. For argument sake I’ll be generous and say 15%. I think that’s a bit high but I’ll give it to you anyway. Can I have the remaining 85%?”
You’ve got them! From my experience, they typically switch to the health of the mother argument. You can continue your argument along the same line.
THEM: “What about the health of the mother?”
YOU: “Can you give me another percentage? No? I’ll be generous again and give you another 15%. Again, I think that’s probably high but I’ll give it to you anyway. Can I have the remaining 70%?”
I think you see where I'm going with this.
The rape/incest and health of the mother arguments are ridiculous but are constantly being thrown around by pro-aborts. I hate seeing pro-lifers getting sucked into them when one can just as easily turn them around.
