A Beautiful Day …

Posted by Roger on Saturday, September 15th, 2007

pict8638a.JPGFriday the 14th at the abortion mill was a beautiful day for the unborn. Almost 1,000 pray-ers came, aside from our usual 24 hour people.

Bishop Doran arrived at 2:30 with 50-70 priests, and were accompanied by approximately 400 pro-lifers. Many powerful prayers were prayed : Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, litany of saints was sung, and Fr. Dan Deutch, from Holy Cross in Batavia, gave an amazingly, POWERFUL prayer of "deliverance" for the PP workers, building, and their activities. [Continue reading . . . »]

Fox Valley Clergy Oppose Planned Parenthood

Posted by Eric Scheidler on Thursday, September 13th, 2007

August 25 RallyYesterday, many print and broadcast media took notice of our struggle against Planned Parenthood for the first time when a little handful of clergy gathered for a press conference to support Planned Parenthood. Leah Hope of ABC Channel 7, who interviewed me at the Vigil site yesterday told me there were eight or nine clergy, scraped up from all over the Chicago area.

There were more clergy than that up on the altar with Bishop Sartain at yesterday's pro-life Mass at Our Lady of Mercy, and we've had many times that number out on the street on numerous occasions praying that Planned Parenthood will never open.

In fact, more than sixty clergy just from Aurora have signed the Fox Valley Clergy for Life statement opposing Planned Parenthood. Add to that sixty-plus from neighboring communities.

Bishop J. Peter Sartain Calls for Reverence for LIFE

Posted by Roger on Thursday, September 13th, 2007

Bishop Sartain

Last evening, Bishop J. Peter Sartain, of the Diocese of Joliet, celebrated Mass with a crowd of Catholics involved in the movement to keep Planned Parenthood out of our city. I was impressed with his humility and thanked him for his call for prayer and fasting this past Friday, Sept 7th.

Bishop Sartain called all of us to show a reverence for life, because it is important! That is why we show reverence for life. Thank you Bishop Sartain for your constant promotion of a culture of life. [Continue reading . . . »]

Face-Off at the City Council

Posted by Eric Scheidler on Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Joe ScheidlerYesterday we returned to the Aurora City Council to respond publicly to the lies that Planned Parenthood has been telling about us and to commend the City Council for launching an independent investigation into PP's dealings with the City.

We were assured by Mayor Weisner that adequate time would be given to complete, study and act upon the investigation, even if that meant Planned Parenthood's temporary occupancy permit would expire on September 18. Despite the his earlier flip-flop on the deadline, I'm ready to take the Mayor's word on this.

Planned Parenthood Deception in Yard Sign Battle

Posted by Eric Scheidler on Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Eric and girls w. captured PP signHere I am with my six little girls and our "This family supports Planned Parenthood—NOT!" sign, captured from the enemy and corrected.

As our "Planned Parenthood is BAD for Aurora" signs begin to appear all over town, we learn that these PP signs (minus the "NOT") are being placed under dubious circumstances. Here's a message I received from a pro-lifer yesterday:

Candlelight Vigil Lights Up Night

Posted by Roger on Saturday, September 8th, 2007

cvigil1sm1.jpg

Last night's Candlelight Vigil drew 300 - 400 people to peacefully and lovingly pray. It was a wonderful sight to behold: the candles illuminating the night, the people gathering for the cause of life, the prayers raising to our Almighty Father interceding for those who can not as of yet speak. Rather than tell you about it, here are some of the prayers that were prayed.

"Lord, I pray today for every unborn child. The beauty of the bodies and souls of these children flows from your hands and your eternal plan. Awaken in every human conscience a profound reverence for human life, and grant us grace to defend our smallest and most defenseless brothers and sisters, those still being formed in the secret places of their mothers' womb. Amen." [Continue reading . . . »]

Planned Parenthood Lashes Out, Part II

Posted by Eric Scheidler on Friday, September 7th, 2007

Open Letter from Steve TrombleyWednesday I reported on Planned Parenthood's local and nationwide schemes to fight back against our popular, grassroots campaign to protect our families from their massive new "Abortion Fortress," slated to open September 18.

That was before I read the letter [PDF] that PP/Chicago Area CEO Steve Trombley sent to the Mayor and Aldermen—three pages almost entirely given over to attacking us pro-lifers, especially my father, Joe Scheidler, including this passage:

After a six-week trial in 1998, a jury in Chicago unanimously found that the Pro-Life Action League Network orchestrated 121 crimes involving acts of threats of force or violence against women’s health facilities that offered abortion. These crimes proven at trial included . . .

Trombley goes on to list some of the outrageous accusations—testimony now known to be perjured—hurled at my father in the 1998 NOW v. Scheidler trial (not, as Trombley claims "proven at trial"). But most significantly, he fails to mention that the jury decision against my father was ultimately overturned not once but twice by the U.S. Supreme Court (2003 and 2006). Sept. 7 - Fasting and Prayer

Posted by Roger on Friday, September 7th, 2007

FastingToday is a day for FASTING. Today, I join with hundreds, if not thousands of people in a day of fasting to keep PP from opening in our community. Please join me, and all the others who will be fasting for this cause. Our 40 Day Prayer Vigil is not just about prayer, which is great, but also about fasting.

Bishop Peter Sartain, the Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Joliet, called for this day of fasting. Here is an excerpt from his letter:

Planned Parenthood Lashes Out

Posted by Eric Scheidler on Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

PP Building in AuroraIt looks like our campaign against Planned Parenthood in Aurora is really hitting home. The national Planned Parenthood organization is getting worried.

Several members of Families Against Planned Parenthood have received phone calls asking for them to support Planned Parenthood by putting up a yard sign.

But apparently they aren't having much success. One phone solicitor hired to make these calls to all the female voters in the area admitted that not many people are willing to support PP in this public way.

Mayor Breaks Word, Imposes Deadline

Posted by Eric Scheidler on Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 29, after nearly six hours of statements from the public calling for an investigation of Planned Parenthood's dealings with the City of Aurora, Mayor Thomas Weisner promised an open, thorough, independent investigation with no deadline.

Here's the Mayor telling me that no deadline would be imposed on the investigation into Planned Parenthood's dealings with the City:

And here's the memo [PDF] he sent out to the City Council late Friday, imposing a September 12 deadline.
